The real estate community is renewing its focus on the idea of a massive $96 million Paseo del Volcan roadway project that could spur millions in new development opportunities.
The roadway, in general, would connect I-40 with U.S. 550 — and as it extends toward Northern Boulevard. would take an eastern curve and tie in with an existing portion of Paseo del Volcan and Unser Boulevard.
David L. Pennington, the area manager and vice president of Uptown’s Parsons Brinckerhoff office, told Business First the firm was asked to assess the potential development opportunity of the roadway for the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) and the city of Albuquerque.
The road has implications for Rio Rancho too, as it would pass through both Bernalillo and Sandoval County, right on the fringe of both the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho municipal boundaries.
